Treat Yourself Tuesday

This week’s treats are a little bit of this and a little bit of that!

While in Lynchburg, we visited their awesome running store, Riverside Runners, and I snagged the most awesome Nike shirt.  It’s totally me.  A little bit of rock n’ roll on a running shirt!

I was treated to a girls race overnight trip!  We had an absolute blast in Lynchburg and it was nice to get out of town, even for a night and have a great time with some wonderfully awesome ladies!  Those kind of trips are good for the soul.  It’s the whole package, running and girl time!

I also treated myself to a surprise shorter haircut! I went to get my normal trim this past week and instead totally went for a shorter ‘do.  My awesome hair dresser asked me if I wanted to go shorter and while I usually tell him, no….I went for it this weekend and I love the change.  I’m getting used to it.  He cut off easily 5 inches! 2014-08-06 13.21.53-4And for the final treat, we used some of the cucumbers from my in-laws’ garden to make homemade refrigerator pickles. 2014-08-07 10.11.48-2

What a Week of Treats (and Surprises)!

This week, I treated myself to some fun vacation and work goodies and I even got a few surprise treats too!

With our upcoming trip, I grabbed two new books! I have been flying through the Divergent series and as soon as I finish one book, I order the next one.  I’m starting the third one, Allegiant.  I’ve really enjoyed them all and I was happy to find a series that I could read through all summer!

I also grabbed If I Stay on Amazon this week.  It just sounded like an interesting book and for $6, I couldn’t pass it up! It’s soon to be made into a movie also, so maybe I’ll actually read a book before it comes out as a movie!

I also treated myself to this cute tank top on Jane.com.  I love that’s a longer tank and it looked super cute with my capri leggings and flip flops.  I love outfits that are comfy but stylish.  Nothing worse than feeling frumpy. 😦  This tank will also be great to wear to work too with my skinny black capris.  For $11.99, it was a great deal!2014-07-16 14.01.57

And finally, I scoped out the White House Black Market site for any sale dresses.  I had some gift cards from my in-laws from Christmas and my birthday to use and I love when they put their dresses on clearance!  I just can’t bring myself to pay full price for anything.  I found this really cute dress for $50 (regularly $150!).  It’ll be great to wear to work with a cardigan.  whbmAnd two surprises!?

I was so excited to find out that I was the blogger highlight of the week by Jill Conyers on her blog!  Holy Smokes!  That just made my week! 🙂

And

I got an awesome treat in my inbox.  I entered a contest through Carolina Runner to win a free entry into the Bethel Half Marathon and I won!!  I’m so excited to add this race to my schedule.  It’s going to be absolutely beautiful that time of year (October) in the mountains.  It’ll be a great event and we’re looking forward to turning this into a mini vacation! bethelrace

Summertime Treats!

So this week, my daughter is at a Summer Arts Camp.  Where she inherited her art and drawing skills, Nick and I have no clue!  She has a true talent and I’m so excited to see where her art takes her as she gets older!  So that means I have some “kiddo free” time to myself this week, which is always a treat in the summer.  I love being a teacher so that I can spend my time with her, of course!  This week just comes at a good time as we’ve truly hit the doldrums of summer break.

I treated myself to an Iced Caramel Macchiato after my steamy 5 mile steady state run. It hit the spot perfectly! 2014-07-14 11.17.40

I also found a great deal for running shoe charms by BeeCause Charms on Active Gear Up so I got this flower!  As most of you may notice, my running girls and I are in love with Fellow Flowers and almost always have a flower in our hair.  Even though the charm isn’t part of Fellow Flowers, it will remind me that I’m always connected to my runner girls. flowershoecharmMy monthly Ipsy bag came!  I am in love with the color of this month’s bag, hot pink!!  I can’t wait to try that funky, glittery Models Own nail polish in Red Sea-Splash.  Included also was a Lord and Berry eyeliner pencil, BB cream eyeshadow from Bare Minerals, Clear Clinic Clear Spot Treatment, and Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil.  Definitely some fun summertime goodies! 2014-07-14 17.08.52

And finally, I also grabbed this wet swimsuit bag from Jane.com.  I didn’t get it to use for swimsuits, though I could, but I am actually going to use it in my running/gym bag for my nasty sweaty clothes.  After long runs, I always change into a dry shirt and usually just dump my wet clothes on the floorboard of my car because I don’t want to put them back in my gym bag.  Ew! Gross!  So I thought this would be a perfect use for those nasty, sweaty clothes!  It’s waterproof and has a zipper.  For $4.99, it was a steal!

Any summertime treats you have to share??

“Birchbox” for Runners?! Awesome!

I love my monthly Birchbox shipment.  What girls wouldn’t love a beautifully wrapped box of beauty samples and other fun goodies!  Don’t worry, guys, theybirchbox-homepage-600x298-dec didn’t forget about you, they also have Birchbox Man.  In any given box, there are usually 6-8 high end samples for face cream to shampoo and nail polish to lip gloss.  Each box is based on your own personal beauty profile which you can update at any time. Some boxes have even had some cute goodies such as headphones, hair ties and chocolate covered potato chips!  The ability to try products first without spending hefty price tags is also a huge benefit.  I’ve purchased full size items of some of the samples I tried and found out others didn’t really live up to the promises.  Stupid stretch marks, I had such high hopes for that cream too!  Every month is a surprise and I love Birchbox delivery day!

While I was looking at details about #Runchat’s I love Running challenge, I saw one of the prizes listed was a monthly subscription for Strideboxsb-three-samplesThey described it as a monthly box of assorted running products (apparel, nutrition, accessories, etc.).  I had to check that out, it sounded just like Birchbox, but for runners! What a brilliant idea!  I clicked on their site and immediately signed up for the first month once I read the details.  At $15 a box, I felt like that was really reasonable and what a great way to try out new products.  Just like Birchbox, you can cancel your subscription at any time.  They just sent out the February boxes, so I’m anxiously awaiting the March delivery.  Once the box arrives, I’ll be sure to share my thoughts about it.

Now, I’ll have two days to look forward to each month, Birchbox and Stridebox days!

Life is full of challenges and surprises.
