It’s a new year and that means new races! Part of my intentions for 2015 is to try some new events and I’m embracing it completely.
I started off 2015 with one of my favorite local races, the Frosty 25K. It was a great race and I enjoyed it again this year! I’m thinking I might be brave next year and take on the whole 50K solo. We’ll see!
February is Gasparilla month!! Finally after a year of planning, it’s only a month away! We’ve been gearing up for the challenge and all of us are super excited! It’s going to be a race-cation to remember.
March brings another new-to-me event, Tobacco Road Marathon. I’ve had several friends run the event before and I’m looking forward to it. I’ve run on the Tobacco Trail before and I love that the race is utilizing parts I’ve run before with new-to-me sections too! I’m also excited to have several friends also running the full, first timers and coming out of marathon retirement runners! It’s surely going to be memorable.
I’ll also return to pacing in a local half, City of the Arts. I’m pacing the 2:15 group and have several friends pacing the 1:45 and 2:30 groups. It’ll be a sea of Fellow Flowers out there! My first time running this one!
In April, we head back to the Outer Banks for Flying Pirate. I’m signed up to do the Double Dare Challenge, the 5K and Half. It’s my 6th time running this race! This whole race-cation is more than just running for us. It’s our big family trip and we all have a blast! I’m happy it’s back in April and hoping the weather will be a bit more cooperative this year.
Race 13.1 Greensboro returns in May and I’m signed up to pace the 2:30 group again. I really liked the course last year and the whole pacing experience and I’m sure this year will be just as fun! My friends who paced with me last year are back in again too. The greenway high fives was one of my favorite things!
I have the Carolina Brewsfest Half in May on my radar, but I just bought tickets to a concert festival that same weekend and I’m not sure I’ll be able to fit it all in. I’m on the fence with this one and will wait to register closer to the date.
The only other event I have planned is the Growler Gallop 10K, a new race to me. It’s an evening race run through downtown with the start and finish at a local brewery. The whole event sounds fun! Food, brews and music and for an early price of $28, I registered for it now even though it’s in August!
I’ll sign back up for Crooked Road 24 Hour Ultra in November where I’ll go at that 100K. If all of my running and training continue to go well, I’ll be ready for it.
This is where my race plans have stopped…
I’m just not ready to commit to anything else in the fall. I have some thoughts on several races. We enjoyed Myrtle Mini last year and would like to maybe race that half in October. I also toss around the idea of putting my name in the lottery for Chicago Marathon or returning to OBX for the November full. I’m just leaving it open right now and hope that I’ll feel drawn to what I want to do once summer gets here.
My racing plate is covered through the Spring and one late summer event! So I’ll be occupied until then. 🙂
I linked up with Tuesdays on the Run for this race plan 2015. Check out other runners’ race plans here.
