Celebrating the Season!

We’re in the process of getting our home decorated.  I started with the mantle.  I love our Santa and Mrs. Claus.  My grandma gave them to us and it reminds me of her now every year we put them out. I am slowly tackling our tree.  We have a huge 10 ft (artificial) tree and it takes awhile to get it just right, but I love it when it’s finally finished! mantle

Hayden and I will be tackling some cookie baking this year.  I’ve already decided we will make Buckeyes, my favorite! I’m thinking that we might make some version of an oatmeal cookie with dried cranberries.  We have been loving the cookies we brought through my school’s fundraiser and I think they maybe the perfect Christmas cookie!

In addition to all of the decorating and baking, I’m working on my Christmas shopping.  I am a huge online shopper and would rather do that then stand in line anywhere.  My sisters and I are so excited about the gift we got for my mom.  She is going to love it!  We’ll also be donating and shopping for others this year.  I participated in #GivingTuesday.

I’m also taking part in a photo a day through The Idea Room.  I’ve been trying to post to Instagram more often and this is just the inspiration I need!  I’ve enjoyed the prompts so far and I’m excited about the remaining ideas.  This was Wednesday’s pic: Candle.  candle

As far as races and events, yesterday our running group took to the streets of a local neighborhood to run the balls. Sunset Hills is known for their huge lighted balls that are strung up in the trees!  It is absolutely beautiful!  We’ve run through this neighborhood for 4 years now and we look forward to it every year now.   We all gather after the run for pizza and brews.  Such fun!image

I’m also running in two holiday themed events!  A few of us are headed to the Reindeer Fun Run 12K tomorrow morning and we have Huntersville Half next weekend.  The Reindeer Fun Run is all about the holidays!  All runners receive a pair of antlers with their race registration and a super cute Reindeer medal for the 12K.

For Huntersville, all half marathoners receive a hoodie (SO awesome!) and my favorite part, a light up medal!  Check out the medal in action below by clicking here.  This is the first year we’ve run either event and I’m super excited that we are trying something new this year!

How are you celebrating the season?  Share your fun with me!  Check out other December Favorites for Friday Five.

Happy Week!
