Saturday Morning Motivation

It’s back!!  It’s the last Saturday of the month and that can only mean one thing, it’s time for Saturday Morning Motivation!  So before you head out this morning for your long run, take just a minute and think about what was the one thing that motivated you?

For me, I had a couple of really great things happen that helped solidify my training and helped me see the big marathon picture!  I am also thankful for a few things too.

Taper Town is awesome!  Seriously!  I usually want to claw my eyes out by the end of the first week of taper, but that girls’ weekend trip was just at the right time.  I was able to have fun and enjoy the weekend without worry of racing.  I think I need to plan to do that around every marathon!  I haven’t felt like I have wanted to jump out of my skin and with a busy week at school, I was relieved I only had to run a mile a few days to keep my streak going.

My ah-ha moment was at the race last Sunday.  I was thrilled that I was able to keep my HR and my pace reasonable.  I’m hoping to see the same results for my marathon.  If that happens, I’ll have one awesome race!  That was just what I needed to really make me realize that this has been one great training round. In addition to a great race day on Sunday, I also ran a really good tempo, my last long one of race training, on Wednesday.  I seriously could have run for days at the paces I was keeping.  I know that I’m not running my marathon at those paces, but for them to feel a bit comfortable is reassurance.  I’m stoked!
