Weekly Rundown

With a lot going on this week, I thought it was a perfect time to lower my miles and just enjoy the week instead of stressing out how I was going to fit everything in.  It worked out perfectly and I felt well rested going into my race on Saturday.

weeklyrundownlogoFitness

Monday – one mile and a really great BodyPump class.  I went up in my chest and squat weights too!

Tuesday – 4 miles with Cara.  We took a lot of walk breaks as needed.  Temps were in the upper 80’s and humid when we met to run after work.

Wednesday – 4 miles with Cara.  Even though it was hotter, we ran more than we did the day before and reversed our route from Tuesday.  We hit the local parks both days where the shade was plentiful!

Thursday – one mile and Mumford and Sons concert with the family.  Top 5 concert I’ve ever been to!  They were amazingly good and the concert was awesome!

Friday – one mile.  I had hoped I’d want to run more, but with a late night and early morning, my couch was calling my name more than the road.

Saturday – A Brighter Path 10K.  (race recap soon)

Sunday – Race the Bar 8K (race recap soon too)

Total Weekly Miles: 22.28

2015 YTD Miles: 640.28 on my way to 1500

We cooked some great meals this week.  We’re rocking it in the kitchen! hellofreshjune8

Weekly Rundown

6 more days and I’ll be on summer vacation time.  I can do this!  Who else is counting down the days for summer to start?  No early mornings rushing around, no more packing lunches…easy days and fun are on the way!  I can’t wait!

This week was an awesome training week for me.  I love a week where everything clicks.  My runs went well and I had a ton of fun along the way.

Fitness

Monday – one mile and a really tough BodyPump class.  I am finally back to the weights I left off with and I’m thrilled.  Hoping to start moving up some of them soon.

Tuesday – 5 miles: 1 solo and 4 with Cara.  I got out of a meeting earlier than planned so I got a quick mile in before meeting Cara to run.  We had the most fun running these crazy fast/slow intervals.  It was cracking us up.  We’d pick a spot just up ahead and run at a pretty fast pace then walk or jog for just a few seconds and do it all again.  Half the time we were laughing and the other time, gasping for air.

Wednesday – National Running Day!  We had an awesome turnout for our running get together.  Thanks to Junction 311 for joining us and giving away prizes, including a free race entry.  It was great to meet new people and everyone had a great time!  I ran 3 miles and add another one at the end for 4 total.  I also forgot my watch and loved the freedom of just running!  keWl9IFY3oRi03wTf3-TrIPRaGSq2axCSrFnmembzck

Thursday – 4 miles with Christine around Hamilton Lakes.  We kept it super easy and actually ran more than we did the last time we were there.  The weather has been cooperating for the last few days!

Friday – one mile early in the morning “rest day”

Saturday – A small group of us met to run from Gibson Park.  Every time someone suggests we run out there, I get excited because it’s somewhere different to run.  Then immediately I remember how hilly it is within the first mile.  It’s seriously no joke!  I planned to run just 7-8 miles and stuck with Amy for the 6 miles.  We had a great time catching up and chatting.  I felt really good so I ran 3 more solo miles for 9 total.  I felt really great when I finished!  I saw my friend, Lauren, out there who was running a race.  saturdayselfie

Sunday – We had our family photos in the morning and I was able to get an afternoon run in post pics and Hayden’s party.  It felt good just to get out there for a bit.

Total miles: 27.35 miles

2015 Year to Date Miles: 618.52 miles towards 1500

Meals

Another great week of Hello Fresh meals!

Weekly Rundown

This is my second post of the day because I forgot to set up my Weekly Fitness and Meal Plan to post yesterday.  The life of a blogger! 🙂

This week was a wonderfully easy week for me with running.  I just took it as a recovery week and did a lot of great easy runs and walks.  It was also super social for most of our runs and it was exactly what I needed!

weeklyrundownlogo

Fitness

Monday – One mile and a BodyPump class.  It was a great class and I’m already back to my normal weights on everything!

Tuesday – 4 mile run with the girls!  We ran most of the 4 miles and walked some too.  It was really hot, sunny and humid.

Wednesday – We tackled some speed work.  Cara’s training for a 5K and we decided we’d show her our support and run some speed work with her.  It was silly fun and we all did so well!  We ran a mile warm-up and did 60 x 60 (1 min fast, one minute recovery) for 8 rounds.  I was so surprised at some of my pace splits!  I had not hit some of those paces in a long time (I stopped doing speed work almost 2 years ago).  I also felt super strong and I could tell that my HR training has paid off.  The highest I saw on my HR monitor was 172 and that was right towards the end.  I was in the 160’s for most of them and was running sub 7’s.

Thursday – 4 miles of solo recovery run.  I kept it super easy, ran at a HR of 135 or below.

Friday – one mile

Saturday – 6 miles with friends.  We have some friends who either just had a baby or is pregnant and they came to meet us!  It was so great to see them and we all enjoyed our walk. We had a huge group walking and talking down the Greenway.  Our friends turned to head back at 1.5 miles and the rest of us went out to mile 3 and ran back.  We had great run!  It was the perfect start to the weekend!

Sunday – Race the Bar 5K with Christine and other runner friends.  It was a great event and I’ll have my race recap up tomorrow!

Total weekly miles: 23.14 miles

2015 Year to Date Miles: 564.35 on my way to 1500

Meals

More super meals this week!  Here’s just a highlight of some of the good things we ate this week!

mealplan5-18

From Hello Fresh:

  • Pork al Mojo
  • Pea and Asparagus Risotto with walnuts and goat cheese.

Other meals:

  • Dynamite Scallop Roll at PF Chang’s.
  • Cheeseburger and a few boneless wings on our Tuesday night post run out
  • Pizza with sliced tomatoes

Weekly Rundown

Some how, some way I got through all my workouts this past week and due to a change in our schedule, I ended up with more miles than I thought.  I’m thrilled!

weeklyrundownlogo

Fitness

Monday – One mile early in the morning and an after work Body Pump class.  I started over again with my weights and felt really good.  The back and the lunge tracks were the toughest!

Tuesday – Another fun Gibb’s Running Club run!  Cara and I ran 4 miles and had a really solid run.  I had to walk a few times due to a high HR.  The heat and the hilly course made it challenging to keep my HR low.

Wednesday – One mile early so that we could celebrate Hayden’s birthday

Thursday – Ran 4 miles, 2 pretty easy and 2 a bit faster (9:01, 8:28).  I wanted to see what my HR was at 8:30 pace and surprisingly it was a lot lower than it was months ago.  I never got above 160.  That’s a huge amount of growth in my fitness!  This is truly working and working well for me.

Friday – one mile easy

Saturday – We had a change in plans for our family pictures.  One of my nieces was sick and we had to postpone the pics for a few weeks.  It was the right call!  I got to meet up with my sister this morning to run 5 miles.  My sister is a closet runner.  She runs often but usually by herself and in most cases super early in the morning during the week.  I was so happy to catch up with her and run!  It was really enjoyable.

Sunday – I paced Race 13.1 Greensboro, the 2:30 group.  It’s my second time pacing this race and I love it!  There’s something special about pacing a local race.  Cara and Christine ran the race too.  Christie and Johnny were back to pacing as well.  2015-05-17 12.24.20

Total Weekly Miles: 29.3 miles

2015 Years to Date Miles: 541.21 miles on my way to 1500

Meals

Another successful week of meals provided by Hello Fresh and cooked by me and Nick!  We are really enjoying it.  We spend the evenings, cooking and talking.  It’s become a nice stress relief for us both.  I look forward to it nightly.

hellofreshmay11This week’s meals included:

  • Meatloaf with shallot gravy and potatoes and carrots
  • Pork au Jus sandwiches and parsnip fries (I ate chips and salsa with mine)
  • Argentine Steak with couscous salad with spinach and red peppers
  • Magnolia Mountain pizza from Sticks and Stones (dinner and leftovers the next night)

Weekly Rundown

Anyone else had one of those weeks?!  Started out so pleasant and by the end of the week, I was done.  D-U-N!  I hightailed it out of work as soon as I could on Friday.

Lucky for me, I was able to still keep up with all my workouts despite a hectic week. I always want to cue some SportsCenter like music when I get ready to do these weekly rundowns…  CUE MUSIC!

Fitness

Monday – 1 mile After a weekend long concert, one was all I could do.

Tuesday –  7 miles  I got out of a work meeting earlier than planned so I had time to get a few miles in before meeting everyone to run at 6pm.  I got 2.8 in solo and ran the rest with the girls.  Given it was hot as heck out there, I felt surprisingly good.  Thank you HR training!

Wednesday – Christine and I met to run 4 miles.  After 2 miles in, we decided walking and talking was more of what we needed vs running.  So we walked 2 miles and had a great conversation.

Thursday – 1 mile early per Hayden’s orchestra concert!  It was so good!

Friday – 1 mile early but after a crappy day, I ran 2 more miles to bring myself back down.  It was just what I needed.

Saturday – Christine, Bob and I met to knock out 9 miles.  We had a super run!  I also hit my 500th mile of the year and my 3000th mile of running streak!?  What the what?!500miles

3000mileSunday – Some Mother’s Day miles with friends.  I ran 6 miles with the girls and Nathan. I practiced pacing for next weekend’s half and nailed it! Really great run!

Total Weekly Miles: 31.11 miles

2015 Year to Date Miles : 511.91 on my way to 1500

Meals

I’ll let the pictures do the talking!  We had some super yummy meals this week.  I’m cooking like a maniac and you know what?  I love it!!  I’ve stepped outside of my comfort zone and I’m cooking foods that I’ve never made before.  Fish used to scare me.  Not any more! Hello Fresh has helped me build up my cooking confidence!hellofreshmay4

Weekly Rundown

With runs starting out at home, a quick trip to the beach mid-week and a long run Saturday, here’s how my week went!  Thank goodness for Spring Break!!  Rest and relaxation were much needed. I had some really great runs and a pretty good mileage week.  I reached my 400th mile of the year too!  Rolling right along towards 1500 miles in ’15.

weeklyrundown

Monday – 3.5 mile progression run.  I wanted to get a quick run in before we left town.  I was limited on time, so that meant go!

Tuesday – 1 mile plus core work  We spent the day shopping so I knew we’d be walking a lot so one mile seemed just about right.

Wednesday – My goal was to run for an hour and to see how far I could get.  With it being great temps and flat, it seemed like a good challenge.  I ran out 2.5 miles and came back to the condo.  Holy headwind coming back.  I was right at 45 min.  I went back for another 15 minutes and had 6.62 miles.  Being so close to 7, I went ahead and finished up the rest of the miles as a cool down.  wednesdayrun

Thursday – It was a stormy morning at the beach and I didn’t have time to get a run in before we left so I waited to run when we got home.  I sure did miss running on the flat…I took to my neighborhood hills.  I ran 3.25 miles, trying a different route thinking it might be a bit flatter.  No luck!  I also did my core work. thursdayrun

Friday – one mile early before work

Saturday – A pretty big group of us met to run at the Green Bean.  We ran a pretty good route.  The trees are blooming like crazy right now and the pollen is insane.  My socks were bright yellow by the time we finished!  We all felt like our throats were just coated in it from breathing it in.  It was a good run, but man, my breathing was labored.  We took several “rest” breaks along the 10 miles.  I also ran my 400th mile of the year.  400milesblog

Sunday – I met Christie at the gym for another Sunday WOD workout.  We ran a mile warm-up, completed a WOD of kettleball swings, grasshoppers, walking lunges, push press and jumping jacks for me (I stink at jump rope).  We finished up with a mile cool down.

Total miles: 28 miles

2015 Miles to Date: 403.86 on my way to 1500

Weekly Focus:  My weekly focus was diet and hydration.  I made some good choices when we were at the beach. I ate seafood with just about every meal.  My favorite dish were the grilled scallops at Boundary House.  I also loved my Shrimp Greek Salad.  Hydration was a whole different issue.  I hardly drank water while we were gone.  I mean maybe a bottle or two a day.  I have got to do better!

Weekly Rundown and Fitness Plan

We had a lots of thing planned yesterday and I took a blogging holiday.  I hope everyone had a great Easter and enjoyed the time with their family and friends.

Weekly Rundownweeklyrundown

Monday – 1 mile and BodyPump with Christie, Julie and Bill

Tuesday – We had our first run with the Gibbs’ Running Club.  Boy, what a turnout!!  They had a 3 and 5 mile route planned, we opted for the 5 miler and it was a doozy.  Up, down, up, down…tons of hills but it was fun to run a different route.  We enjoyed a brew post run.

Wednesday – Cara, Christine and I met to run.  All three of us were kind of not feeling running, so we stuck with some intervals after the first mile: 3 min running/1 min walking and we ended up mowing down those last two miles way faster than the first two and we felt great!  That saying, never judge a run by the first mile is true.  If we weren’t all together, I would have bailed.

Thursday – I met Christie to run 3 miles before she went to her class.  We ran a rather quick 3 miles and I felt pretty good.  I came home and did my core workout (50 push ups, 100 crunches, 2 1 minute planks)

Friday – a one mile “rest” day

Saturday – Christine and I met in my neighborhood to run 3.5 miles before we volunteered for the Runnerdude 25K.  We had a great time volunteering and cheering on the runners.  I also did my core workout.

Sunday – A small group of us got together to run.  I ran 8.5 miles to make up for the .5 from Saturday.  I wanted to keep my miles close to the same as last week’s.2015-04-05 12.17.12

Total weekly miles: 26.01 miles

YTD: 375.83 on my way to 1500

Weekly Fitness Planweeklyfitnessplanblog

Today – I’m going to get a 3 miler in before we head to the beach!!

Tuesday – Thursday:  I’ll plan to run every day, but honestly, I’m not sticking to a mileage number.  It will depend on what we do and what we have planned.  I will stick to my core workout routine though.

Friday – I’ll get try to get in 3-4 miles if I feel like I need it.  We have to go to school for one day (snow make up day)

Saturday – 10 miles

Sunday – 4 miles

Weekly focus: Diet and Hydration

I’m going to try and make good decisions while we are at the beach.  We’ll be eating out for several meals so I’ll mix in some salads to keep myself in check and splurge once or twice, I’m sure. 🙂

How did your week go??  What do you have planned for this week?

Weekly Rundown

This was one of those weeks where I am just smiling about how my training went!  Some great surprises this week and I got to head back to the gym!

weeklyrundown

Monday – I finally got back to BodyPump!!  YAY!!  I met Christie and Julie for class.  I ran a mile earlier in the day knowing I wouldn’t have time before class.

Tuesday – Cara and I met to run but traffic was so bad so we ended up meeting a little bit later than we planned.  We realized once we got started that it was close to 6pm and that our friend, Kay’s beginning running group would be meeting at the local running shop.  Cara and I ran towards the shop hoping to catch up with them.  We made it all the way to the shop to be greeted by not only Kay, but Andrea and Christine!!  It was such an awesome surprise!  Cara, Christine and I ran 4.1 miles in honor of my birthday the next day.2015-03-24 19.27.17

Wednesday – My birthday!  I got in one mile in the morning knowing that we were going out to dinner later that night.  It was a great day!!

Thursday – A group of us met to run and to grab Mexican food after.  Kay and I hung together for a really solid 4.3 miler.  I felt really good running and we stuck right at my upcoming pacing pace, which made me happy.

Friday – 1 mile in the morning

Saturday – I met Katie and Cara last minute to run some early miles.  I was running the Hamilton Lakes 10K in the afternoon and thought I’d run 4 miles to just loosen up my legs a bit.  Katie had 10 miles to complete and Cara and I kept her company for 7.  I was really happy to meet up with them and I enjoyed the run!  The temperature though was not enjoyable.  We had dipped down into the low 30’s and a ridiculously cold wind.2015-03-28 10.20.08-2

At 2pm, I met Christine for the race.  We planned to stick together and I had planned secretly to see if we could get under an hour.  I’ll have a race recap soon!

Sunday – I met Christie and Amy at the gym to get some miles in and a circuit workout.  I started with 2 miles on the treadmill, then switched to the stepper to hang with the girls, but it felt awkward.  I have one leg just slightly longer than the other and it was jacking me up not being able to pick my feet up.  So I switched back to the treadmill.  After cardio, Christie set up a mini circuit that we completed 4 times through.  I ended up with 100 jump ropes, 100 jumping jacks, 60 kettle bell swings, 60 box “jumps” (I did a step version), and 125 crunches.  It was an awesome workout!  I loved it!

Weekly miles: 28.60

2015 miles to date: 349.82 on my way to 1500

Weekly Rundown

This week was all about the miles…recovery miles that is!  With just finishing the marathon last weekend, an easy week was just what I needed.  weeklyrundown

Monday to Wednesday – I told myself that I was taking these days “off” and just run my daily mile.  Monday’s after the Marathon mile was the toughest and I was back to a normal gait by Wednesday.  I took it super slow and easy.

Thursday – By today, I was itching to run again.  I was so glad I had taken those “rest” days because I felt really good for this run.  I met Christine and Katie for a 4 miler.  The weather seemed less than perfect, cold and rainy, but we made the most of it!  I actually don’t mind running in the rain.  We had a super run!  Katie surprised the heck out of me too!  She uses intervals for her long runs to help with her breathing, but she had stopped doing them on her weekly runs.  We were running along and it wasn’t until mile one that I realized we hadn’t stopped. I gave her a big ol’ smack when I realized it!  It was a love tap! 🙂  I’m super proud of her!

Friday – one mile day

Saturday – Katie and Nathan were running long on Saturday so a few of us joined them to get a few miles in.  I thought I’d maybe run 3-4 miles, but ended up running 5 miles.  It was super humid!  I had a hard time finding a comfortable pace.  By mile 3, it clicked and we stayed the exact same pace for the next 2 miles.

Sunday – The 15th annual Old Town Beerun, the rite of Spring in Greensboro.  This yearly race is when you know that Spring has come!  We lucked out this year with amazing weather.  The last two years were freezing cold!  It was great to see a lot of friends out there and fellow Tobacco Road Marathoners too.  No racing for me yet.  We ran this at what I call “beer drinking pace”.   We just enjoyed the course (as much as you can! It’s hilly!) and just ran and chatted for the 5 miles.  We had a great time at the post race party!  I got to stop by the Elite Performance Chiropractic Table and Jeremy did some hip adjustments and some good IT band and hip flexor stretches.  I feel like a million bucks!  I’ll going to head back to him in 2 weeks to get another adjustment/stretch.  2015-03-22 20.02.28

Total Miles: 18 miles

I’m happy with that!  I was shooting for 15-16 for the week.

Weekly Rundown

Another week of training done.  We started training for Gasparilla and Tobacco Road Marathon 14 weeks and all that hard work and training comes down to this week.

weeklyrundown

Monday – This was the most beautiful sunny day!!  I had intended to run just three but once I got going, I added another mile.  I didn’t run with my HR monitor.  I was so excited about the weather, I totally forgot to grab it.  I ran a bit faster than my intended HR would allow, but it felt good.marathontrainingrun

Tuesday- 1 mile indoor.  As lovely as yesterday was, today was the complete opposite!

Wednesday – Cara and I met to run on another sunny day!  Mother Nature was acting all kind of crazy this week.  70’s one day and 30’s the next, back and forth.  We ran a really solid 4 miler and ran an accidental progression.

Thursday – 1 mile indoors.  Thursday was brutal…cold, rainy and bitter.

Friday- 1 mile indoors

Saturday – Christine, Cara and I ran our last long run, 10 miles! We ran a doozy of a route.  I have no one to blame, but myself.  I mapped it. It started out easy enough with most of our early miles flat to downhill, then around mile 4, that all changed and we climbed and climbed.  We did really well and hung in there.  A great last run to end on before the marathon!  lastlongtrainingrun

Sunday – One mile…I thought maybe I’d want to run more since the weather was so pretty.  But my early morning coffee and blogging time was more what I wanted.  Rest and relaxation is key at this point!
